+ Do I need to make a bridal appointment?
While appointments are not mandatory, we strongly recommend scheduling one. This is to ensure we have a spacious room and a bridal consultant available, who can help assist you in and out of the dresses. We do our best to accommodate walk-ins, but cannot guarantee you’ll be able to try on bridal gowns.
+ What if I need to cancel or change my appointment?
Not a problem, just give us a call or text to let us know. We’d be happy to reschedule the appointment for a better day and time. You will receive a reminder text message 48 hours before your appointment. You can reply to the message to confirm or cancel, or you may call the store directly. We appreciate the courtesy of confirming or cancelling as soon as possible.
+ How long can I expect my bridal appointment to be?
Our appointment times generally last 60-90 minutes. We are a small boutique, and all our dresses are out for browsing, and we have found that amount of time is perfect for selecting your favorites and trying them on.
+ Who should I bring with me to my appointment?
We recommend you bring only a few people whose opinions you value the most. We’ve found the more people who attend the appointment, the more challenging it is, since it’s easier to lose focus on what is important to you.
+ Are children allowed in the boutique?
We adore chilren, but our boutique is filled with delicate, expensive items and it is not an appropriate enviroment for them. Children require a lot of care and attention and we also feel that caring for them takes the attention away from the bride, which in our world, is always the star of the show. We kindly request that you leave small children at home.
+ How should I prepare for my bridal appointment?
Take some time to discover what you prefer in a wedding dress by browsing through bridal magazines, websites, and good'ol Pinterest. This will help us get started in the selection process, although your stylist may also have some recommendations that you will love. The most helpful undergarments to bring to your bridal appointment are nude spanx (or leggings!) and a strapless bra.
+ Are photographs allowed?
They are allowed but we ask that you refrain from taking them until the end of the appointment when we have helped you narrow down your choices to three gowns. Taking them throughout the appointment can be distracting and may not be the best use of your time.
We also ask that when viewing the photos to remember that our gowns are samples and may not be in the color or condition that your gown will be upon its arrival. Also, the gown has not been professionally fit to your body and therefore may not be lying exactly right.
Dress & Product Information
+ Do you buy pre-owned wedding dresses?
We only sell dresses ordered directly from our bridal designers. We do not offer consignment or accept donations, even if they have not been worn.
+ Do you rent wedding dresses?
No, we do not rent them. All of our dresses are for purchase. However, we do offer tuxedo rentals!
+ How much do your dresses cost?
We have a wide range of prices anywhere from $300 up to $2,000- but the bulk of our selection is priced from $1000-$1500.
+ What sample sizes do you carry?
We have dress samples from size 2 up to 26. During your appointment the consultant will help you achieve the closest fit possible. Bridal sizes typically run slightly smaller than standard sizes, so please keep this in mind when trying on.
+ How far in advance do I need to order my dress?
We recommend shopping for your wedding dress at least 9-12 months before your wedding day. Most wedding dresses take about 4-6 months to arrive after they’ve been ordered. Don’t forget to give yourself time for alternations and fittings after the dress arrives. If you are short on time, dresses are available on a rush delivery for an additional charge. We also have a good selection of samples that we sell off the rack.
+ Are alterations available at Weddings with Joy?
No. Unfortunately, our space is so small we just don’t have the space for an alterations department, however we have excellent referrals. Alterations are not included in the price of your dress.
+ What can I do with my dress after the wedding?
We work closely with a Seattle company, which provides cleaning and preservation servives. If you purchased your dress from us, ask us about a special discount!
Payment, Returns, and Exchanges
+ Do you offer refunds? Are cancellations possible?
Due to the custom nature of our business, all sales are final. We cannot accept cancellations once your order is placed or accept returns for whatever reason. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. In the unfortunate circumstance, the event is cancelled or postponed, you are still responsible for picking up the gown and accessories.
+ Do I pay for my gown at the time of ordering? Or do you accept partial payment?
Yes. We do ask for payment in full at the time of order. If a problem arrises, we can certainly work with you. If you're purchasing a dress off-the-rack, we do have a layaway plan available. Contact us for more information.
+ How quickly do your gowns arrive once I've placed my order?
Once you've placed your order, wedding dresses typically take anywhere from 4 to 5 months to arrive. Shippping time does vary by designer, and style of dress. Shipping times are not guaranteed, and may arrive earlier or later than the estimated shipping date. We do have rush options available.
